【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesadisturbedsoilsampleformoisturecontentdetermination,foridentificationandclassification(PracticesD2487andD2488)purposes,andforlaboratorytestsappropriateforsoilobtainedfromasamplerthatwillproducelargeshearstraindisturbanceinthesamplesuchasTestMethodsD854,D2216,andD6913.Soildepositscontaininggravels,cobbles,orboulderstypicallyresultinpenetrationrefusalanddamagetotheequipment.Thistestmethodprovidesadisturbedsoilsampleformoisturecontentdeterminationandlaboratoryidentification.Samplequalityisgenerallynotsuitableforadvancedlaboratorytestingforengineeringproperties.Theprocessofdrivingthesamplerwillcausedisturbanceofthesoilandchangetheengineeringproperties.Useofthethinwalltubesampler(PracticeD1587)mayresultinlessdisturbanceinsoftsoils.CoringtechniquesmayresultinlessdisturbancethanSPTsamplingforhardersoils,butitisnotalwaysthecase,thatis,somecementedsoilsmaybecomeloosenedbywateractionduringcoring;seePracticeD6151,andGuideD6169.Thistestmethodisusedextensivelyinagreatvarietyofgeotechnicalexplorationprojects.Manylocalcorrelationsandwidelypublishedcorrelationswhichrelateblowcount,orN-value,andtheengineeringbehaviorofearthworksandfoundationsareavailable.Forevaluatingtheliquefactionpotentialofsandsduringanearthquakeevent,theN-valueshouldbenormalizedtoastandardoverburdenstresslevel.PracticeD6066providesmethodstoobtainarecordofnormalizedresistanceofsandstothepenetrationofastandardsamplerdrivenbyastandardenergy.Thepenetrationresistanceisadjustedtodrillrodenergyratioof60%byusingahammersystemwitheitheranestimatedenergydeliveryordirectlymeasuringdrillrodstresswaveenergyusingTestMethodD4633.Note18212;Thereliabilityofdataandinterpretationsgeneratedbythispracticeisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingitandthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740generallyareconsideredcapableofcompetenttesting.UsersofthispracticearecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotassurereliabletesting.ReliabletestingdependsonseveralfactorsandPracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthesefactors.PracticeD3740wasdevelopedforagenciesengagedinthetesting,inspection,orboth,ofsoilsandrock.Assuch,itisnottotallyapplicabletoagenciesperformingthispractice.UsersofthistestmethodshouldrecognizethattheframeworkofPracticeD3740isappropriateforevaluatingthequalityofanagencyperformingthistestmethod.Currently,thereisnoknownqualifyingnationalauthoritythatinspectsagenciesthatperformthistestmethod.1.1Thistestmethoddescribestheprocedure,generallyknownastheStandardPenetrationTest(SPT),fordrivingasplit-barrelsamplertoobtainarepresentativedisturbedsoilsampleforidentificationpurposes,andmeasuretheresistanceofthesoiltopenetrationofthesampler.Anothermethod(TestMethodD3550)todriveasplit-barrelsamplertoobtainarepresentativesoilsampleisavailablebutthehammerenergyisnotstandardized.1.2PracticeD6066givesaguidetodeterminingthenormalizedpenetrationresistanceofsandsforenergyadjustmentsofN-value......
